Hide 3D-print layer lines with real surface texture

Smooth, flat surfaces are where FDM layer lines show most. This tool paints a texture onto your model, turns it into fine height detail, and bakes that relief into the geometry, so the print carries wood grain, scales, stone or weathering instead of bare stepping.

How texture hides layer lines

Every printed layer leaves a faint horizontal ridge. On a flat face those ridges line up into obvious parallel bands. Break the surface up with small, semi-random relief and the eye reads texture instead of steps, the same reason a matte, textured wall hides imperfections better than a glossy flat one. The relief only needs to be comparable to your layer height (a few tenths of a millimetre) to do the work, so it barely changes the model's dimensions.

How it works

  1. Upload a smooth STL, OBJ or 3MF (up to 90 MB).
  2. Describe the surface if you like, e.g. "weathered bronze" or "carved oak wood grain". The prompt steers both the reference image and the texture.
  3. Generate: we paint a texture onto the model, convert it to a height map and displace the surface along its normals, then weld and hole-fill.
  4. Download a watertight model (STL, OBJ, 3MF or GLB) that has already passed a real slicer as a safety gate.

Which models suit it

It shines on models with large smooth areas where layer lines are most obvious: busts, props, terrain tiles, vases, cosplay panels and enclosures. Highly organic or already-detailed sculpts benefit less, since they hide layer lines on their own. You stay in control of the look through the optional prompt.

FAQ

Is the output actually printable?

Yes. Every result is welded watertight, hole-filled, and run through a real slicer as a gate before you can download it. If it does not slice, it is not served.

Will it change my model's size?

Barely. The relief is sub-millimetre, applied as a shallow displacement about the original surface, so overall dimensions stay within a fraction of a millimetre.

What file types can I use?

Upload STL, OBJ or 3MF up to 90 MB. You can download the result as STL, OBJ, 3MF or GLB.

What formats can I download?

STL is byte-identical to the slicer-checked output. OBJ, 3MF and GLB are converted right in your browser from the same geometry.

Does it cost anything?
