Add text or a logo to an STL

Drop in any STL, type your text, place it on a face, and emboss or engrave it — then download the modified STL. Personalize a model with a name, add a maker's mark, label a part. Free, all in your browser.

● Runs entirely in your browser — your STL is never uploaded

Sample credits & licenses

The built-in samples are remixable open-licensed models — attribution and source below. Your customized export inherits the source license (CC-BY-SA samples require share-alike). Simple blank shapes are generated by this tool (no attribution needed).

How it works

Everything happens in your browser. Your STL is parsed with WebGL, your text is turned into real 3D geometry, and it is fused onto the surface with a mesh boolean — emboss is a union (raised text), engrave is a subtraction (recessed text). The result is exported straight back to an STL you can slice and print. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. Booleans work best on clean, watertight models; if a broken mesh fails, repair it first or increase the depth so the text clearly crosses the surface.

Frequently asked

How do I add text to an STL for free?
Upload the STL, type text, pick a face, choose emboss or engrave, download. All in-browser — no account, no upload, no install.
Does it upload my STL?
No — the model is loaded and modified locally with WebGL and a mesh boolean. Your file never leaves your machine.
Emboss vs engrave?
Emboss = raised text (boolean union); engrave = recessed text (boolean subtraction). Both export as STL.
The boolean failed — why?
Booleans need reasonably clean, watertight meshes. Repair a broken STL first, or increase the text depth so it clearly intersects the surface.
