Description

This is a mod for the infiniti G35 and Nissan 350Z to add Factory looking wireless apple carplay/android auto to the navigation screen while still preserving the OEM look and the elevator functions. This setup 3D models and brackets were designed for use with one of these apple carplay/ android auto screens: amazon.com/dp/B0GK8PJ2GB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I cannot promise that it will work with other brands but feel free to remix the PCB mounting bracket if you have success max size screen is 7 inches. Your going to want to 3D print all the files here Bracket and Main board will give you what you need to replace the factory navigation screens brackets to accomodate the new display you can actually see the square brackets in the photo highlighting the way i laid out the inside, use a drill to size the holes properly and get yourself some threaded inserts and push them into the holes with a soldering iron, there are two holes on the side to affix the screen housing to the 3D printed brackets, there are two more holes on the adjacent edge to affix the screen housing back cover again size them appropriately with a drill bit, I made the holes for the back cover much smaller than the ones for mounting the screen housing. Screen Bezel must sit between the display and the inner opening of the housing it is a spacer, use double sides 3m tape to affix both sides one side to the inside of the display housing and one to the display glass, be sure to center is as best you can.; Your going to want to remove the module that controls your screen there are great guides on youtube made by a gentlemen who goes by the name of Wrathernaught follow his guides to get you to the stage where you can begin gutting the screen. Youll want to run the cables down and out the back and use a 12v -> 5V USB C step down converter mounted inside of the housing alongside the display and mainboard: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRVVWL4Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title Be sure to leave yourself enough slack to route the positive and negative out the bottom of the display housing through to the now empty cavity where the factory screen controller used to live, I chose to run the negative to one of the bolts on the back of the radio assembly. there are a grouping of holes on the bottom of the empty cavity i picked one that lined up nicely with the exit of the screen housing and routed the positive down through there, again LEAVE YOURSELF ENOUGH SLACK TO LET THE SCREEN MOVE UP ANND DOWN. I used a posi tap and ran it to the harness for the navigation that would have powered the factory display controller , there is a light green wire here you can steal power from that is only hot when the key is in the ACC or On position. The elevator function is powered by a separate harness with a grey connector on the back of the radio.; I recommend pairing this with a grom audio BT3 unit have fun and enjoy! DISCLAIMER I take zero responsibility for any damage that could occur to your vehicle, this is a totally custom mod and I have done all of my research to ensure that it is compatible with my vehicle, different model years may have alternative harness wire color layouts use a multimeter, be smart and take your time with the install, install a 5 amp fusable link if needed. Display draws roughly .3 amps during operation.
