Description

Description It’s a little known fact from the first edition of Jules Verne’s book “20,000 Leagues under the Sea” that Captain Nemo initially sailed with the Nautilus-Benchy before it was converted into a full submarine. This model is a faithful reproduction based upon what remains of the original blueprints. Printing In the normal orientation the Nautilus_Benchy.stl file has a lot of cantilevered surfaces that don’t print well. I was reluctant to turn on “support” in the slicer because of the difficulty in removing this added material especially in the interior of the cabin. The Nautilus_Benchy_support.stl file has the model rotated 63 degrees and support structures included for printing. The support material is 0.5mm thick at the contact points for ease of removal. A pocket knife worked fine for this. I sliced with a 0.25mm Z step and printed using ABS.
