Description

I've created a remix based on @Pomi 's fantastic design of the "45° Filament Cutter" . In my version, I've embedded nuts to replace the original self-plastic threads, ensuring better durability and wear resistance over time. Additionally, I've optimized the parts, reducing the amount of filament required for printing. Build process 3D Printing I've already provided the files for the parts which were sliced using PrusaSlicer , but you can use the following settings as reference: Material: PLA / PETG Supports: None Resolution: 0.2mm Layer Height (using a 0.4mm nozzle) Perimeters: 2 Top Layers: 2 Bottom Layers: 2 Infill: 40% Hardware: 1x | 18mm Snap-Off Blade (only one blade segment needed) 2x | DIN 912 - M3 x 25mm 2x | DIN 934 - M3 2x | Ball Pen spring (20mm length x 4mm diameter) Tools & Supplies: In order to accomplish the assembly process you need the following tools: Hex Key (wrench size of 2.5) CA glue aka. "Super Glue" (optional) Lubricant (optional) Assembly instructions Follow the steps below to accomplish the assembly of the 45° filament cutter: Print the provided parts. Break a segment from the 18mm Snap-Off Blade and insert it into the filament-cutter_top part by following the small mark located near the blade pocket which should align the pointy corner of the blade segment. Insert the segment blade with the cutting edge pointing up. I strongly recommend to user a pair of pliers to safely insert the blade. Insert the nuts in the filament-cutter_top part. You can force them in by pressing the part against a flat surface. Place the filament-cutter_top-cap on the filament-cutter_top . This has been designed to be a tight fit, but you can secure it in by adding a few drops of super glue. Insert the M3 screws into the filament-cutter_bottom . You can also add a bit of lubricant on the screws and inside the screw pocket to ensure a smooth mechanism. Align the ball pen springs on the M3 screws. Place the filament-cutter_top on the filament-cutter_bottom and press it fully. Tighten the screws using a 2.5 hex key until the screw stops. You don't need to tighten them too much.
