Description

This thing was crowd designed by the members of the Espresso Aficianados Discord . If this design or espresso interests you, hop in and say hello! The Tool A nine pronged WDT tool. This was designed for 0.4x75mm 0.35x75mm acupuncture needles with a 30mm handle. The total length of the needle is 105mm (see photo). I used https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001467649993.html . Others have used 3d printer needles from amazon 1 2. Dull the tips of the needles on an emery board or sandpaper before installing. Store tip down in a cup of rice for safety and to clean the needles. Printing Print cap upside down (threads up) Youtube features: Brian Quan Lance Hedrick Hoon's Coffee James Hoffmann Licensing A note to commercial printers: this WDT is meant to be affordable and accessible for espresso enthusiasts. I give permission to print and sell these as long as the following conditions are met. 0. Any posting should include a link to this design. 1. Prints should include needles. 2. Total cost may not exceed 9 USD. 3. If a stand is included, total cost should not exceed 10 USD. Total costs exclude shipping and handling. Edits Edit 7: Modified licensing terms to exclude shipping and handling cost. Edit 6: Added two piece WDT holder that breaks apart for easier shipping. Edit 5: Modified licensing terms to allow limited commercial printing. Edit 4: In terms of needle diameters, 0.25mm deforms too easily to WDT effectively. 0.3mm is nice if using bottom filters as it causes less disturbance. 0.35mm is nearly as robust as a 0.4mm needle, but moves the coffee less. 0.4mm is the sturdiest of them all but moves the coffee around the most. Any size between 0.3-0.4mm will work, but 0.35mm is a nice compromise. Edit3: Added a bottom with bigger holes (1.2mm rather than 1mm) for the needle for folks having trouble with the hole size. Edit2: By popular demand, i've added a WDT holder base. It comes in a 70mm octagonal base and a 58.5mm circular base (to fit various accessory holders). Edit: added a magnetic clip STL and updated the fusion file to include it. This uses 4 5x1mm magnets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JDBLVBZ/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but 2 5x2mm magnets should fit as well.
