Description
#### Huzzah! This Balrog is based off the model in the 3DS version of Cavestory. It's my first attempt at creating a color print for a single extruder printer. I got the original mesh from the models resource and modified/split it up in Blender. #####Print instructions: The parts are labeled with their associated colors, the ones with 2x in the name will need an additional copy. The body is the only piece that requires supports, I recommend printing it face up and sinking it into the bed ~1mm. You'll probably need glue, especially for the face parts. If you're having trouble getting pieces to fit try using a bit of negative XY Size Compensation in prusaslicer (Horizontal Expansion in cura). I didn't really design with a multimaterial setup in mind but I included the full model (balrog_full) for anyone who wants to try. Again I recommend printing it facing the sky to reduce the number of color changes required. #####Other Notes: The 3DS version of Balrog has minor differences from the original 2D design . Namely the orange stripes don't extend past the face and the back is missing those little white rectangles. I'm pleased with how this one turned out though, I plan on making another model that's more faithful to the 2D look and doesn't use any pre-existing assets. Might also be fun to make alt versions with wings or a big smile. The model pictured was printed on a Sovol SV07 Plus at an 0.2mm layer height. It measures 52mm tall and 89mm wide (2 in. x 3.5 in) and uses silk copper PLA for the orange bits. Lastly go play Cavestory, it's a great game. Happy printing! Let me know how it goes, especially if you're trying it in multicolor.
