Description

This is an arm and clamp for mounting Robert Samples' dry box onto the frame of a BambuLab A1 printer. The standard dry box can be fitted without modification. Optionally the box can be turned upside down to give a shorter filament path. If you want to mount the box inverted, you will need to drill new holes in it, to raise the spool. The box can be mounted on either side of the arm, your choice. The arm has sockets on both sides for M5 nuts, and holes, right through, for optional M3 sized threaded inserts. I found the clamp at https://makerworld.com/en/models/995840-a1-low-friction-spool-holder#profileId-972133 . Thanks to the designer, whose name I cannot read. I cut it off the frame, and separated the pieces to avoid the uncertainty of print in place parts. Parts needed: 3 x M5 x 40mm bolts, with nuts, preferable locking. Used for mounting the box and spool to the arm. 1 x M3 x 30mm bolt, with nut, for the clamp hinge. Optionally 2 x M3 threaded inserts and 2 x M3 x 10mm (or longer) bolts, for a bit of extra stability and to fill the holes in the original dry box and spool Printing: Don't use PLA, it will deform over time, as it is directly over the heated bed. Otherwise any stronger and more heat resistant filament will do, its not too hot. I used Elegoo Rapid PETG with five walls, lower and upper shells, with 30% cubic infill. Thanks to Robert Samples for all his work in designing the excellent dry box. Thanks to unknown on Makerworld for the clamp design.
