Description

A fast spinning water turbine to be directly screwed into the water tap. It really spins like crazy. My children love it as bathtub toy. 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media The turbine has some power but low mass, which renders it exciting but harmless. Anyways, keep your children under constant supervision in the bathtub. The connection to the water tap is made with the EU standard M24x1 or M28x1 threads. You can add a seal if you want, but it is not really necessary. (Note that I could not test the M28x1 version, as I have only M24x1 faucets at home.) HowTo: There is one thing to consider: The thread of your own water tap might be cut in a way that the turbine is facing anywhere but not front when you tighten the screw. No worries. This is solved: Step 1: Select your thread size. M24x1 or M28x1. Step 2: Print the corresponding thread_tester.stl . Step 3: Go to the bathroom and screw it in. Note the letter that is facing forward. (A, B, C or D). Remove the thread_tester. 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media Step 4: Print the turbine holder with the corresponding letter in the filename. E.g. if the thread_tester gave you D, print holder_D.stl . When you screw the holder to the tap, it is now correctly positioned. Step 5: Print the pin.stl and the turbine.stl . The pin can be glued into the turbine with superglue if the fit is too loose. Step 6: Have fun! Printing: Use PETG, ABS or ASA for increased temperature stability compared to PLA. PLA also works fine though. Print the holder_X.stl with 0.12mm layer height for a good resolution of the fine thread. For maximum strength, also print with 100% infill in the thread region and a few millimeters below. No supports needed. You might wanna print a brim for the turbine. Changelog: 2024_02_25: On full pressure, the thread part broke. I changed the channel diameter in the thread region, doubling the crossection area there. 2024_03_03: Added 3mm height to the thread part due to comment. Thread length is now 8mm. Also added a M28x1 version. Which I cannot test, as I only have M24x1 in my house.
