Description
This is a replacement for the orginal knobs for the Hypatia focusser. This knob is bigger than the original with a fine texture for grip with handgloves on. The need for a bigger knob for the fantastic Hypatia focusser comes the need for more clearence from the Upper Telescope Assembly (UTA) and our hands expecially when using cloves. There is a short version and a 7 mm spacer (also available as a stl file). The grub screw is situated as far on the end of the pinion that it still clamps well. The long version of the knob has more clearence. The internal diameter (ID) is 4.2 mm and is designed for a steel pinion of 4 mm (aliexpress). It fits with a bit of friction. Materials: PLA is not recommended although it works with some precaution. Don't leave the pla parts in a hot car or near heat in general. The heat insert I used for the 3mm grub screw is a M3x4x5. The hole in the knob for the insert is 4,5 mm so there is 0,25 mm overlap on all sides of the insert. It worked well with my prints without excessive material blocking the grub screw. I printed with 3 layers and 10% gyroid infill (ca. 20 gram of material) but other infill types will work too. I used a random seam. I hope you enjoy our design. Thanks Maff for the Hadley telescope. Thanks to Marci for the Hypatia focusser. Thanks to my wife for helping with the design.
