Description
I had several different universal car vent phone mounts that kept falling out of the vents and not holding my phone very well, so I built my own. They're designed to drop the phone down onto a charging plug. I have designs for a Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 pro with typical-thickness cases, but they should work for lots of other phones as well. Vent Clips I reused a vent clip I had designed for a backup camera mount - it had worked quite well. I recommend you print the vent clip in PETG for strength and flexibility, but you can probably get away with PLA Print the ball separately and push it on the end of the clip - it should be a tight fit The nut should be printed with a relatively low layer height because of the threads The collet / holder should be in PETG instead of PLA because the collet fingers are pretty thin. Use a low layer height because of the threads. Phone Holders The phone holders are designed to slide over the slots. They're made in two pieces - one for the phone and one that tightly holds the cord plug. The plug holder slides over the base of the phone holder with a centralizing feature. The phone holder can probably be printed in anything, but I'd use PETG because it will be in the sun. I included models for two different sizes, but I can add others on request The plug holder should similarly be printed in PETG with the back down so supports aren't required. The dimensions will be specific to the plug you have. I have models for a couple different ones, but I should probably attach the parameterized model because you really want the plugs to fight tightly. If they don't, they'll come out with the phone or get pushed down out of the bottom.
