Description

Thanks to @Yanev for their nice working parametric model of a tool box! I remixed it to "huge" for holding a ViewSonic LCD Projector, and added a carrying handle, made for two (2) M5 x 30mm screws plus two (2) M5 nylock nuts. The latches work great. In looking at my actual printed case, I realized it should have had both a third hinge in back center and a third latch in front center. I will not bother reprinting it (thus they don't show in the photos), but since I am posting my remix, I am posting it with the extra hinge and latch. I also changed the "curved departure" from the bottom onto the sides, to be a sharp angle instead of a curve, to make it print better. Did the same on the top; changed curve-onto-sides into sharp angle, for consistency. This was printed in PLA on Flashforge Adventurer 5M printers, in 4 parts each for the box and the lid. Glued the parts together using CA glue. Print settings: Prints without need of supports. Filament used: PLA+ Adhesive used: CA glue If you increase the number of bottom layers so that the bottom prints without needing infill, it saves print time, because of slowness of a bridging layer across infill. On my super fast Flashforge AD5M printers, this saved about 10 minutes printing time on both the box and the lid. Hardware needed: Nine (9) M3 x 30 mm screws (for hinges x 3, latch hinge pins x 3, and latch hook pins x 3. Two (2) M5 x 30mm screws (for handle) Two (2) M5 nylock nuts (for handle) Other needed: Some foam to cut and install as needed. If you plan to glue the foam in, some spray adhesive is good to have. It may be just fine without glue. I glued in some pieces, but some I didn’t. Summary of changes from original: Remixed it to "huge" —for holding a ViewSonic LCD Projector Added a carrying handle. Added third hinge in back center. Added third latch in front center. Changed the "curved departure" from the bottom-onto-sides, to be a sharp angle instead of a curve, to make it print better. Did the same on the top; changed curve-onto-sides into sharp angle, for consistency. Split the resulting model into four quarters each for box and lid, so the parts could be glued together using CA glue.
