Description

Hi Friends, Today I have more of a mechanical model. I have been wanting to get back into the mechanical side of 3D Printing and away from the more free form designs. This is a remix of a file designed by the very popular 3D Printy. The original file had a lot of appeal, but I found that at a 0.2 layer height it wasn't as reliable and would often get stuck. So I decided to start from scratch and try my hand at improving on the design. The assembly is pretty simple. Insert the button into the top housing, then afterwards the idler. Put a regular (20mm length; longer is fine but shorter can cause issues) pen spring into the bottom of the idler and then screw on the bottom. Click click! I find that at first it will be a little rough and may get stuck, but once the parts that interface get a little worn and smoothed off it works perfect! Usually I will put some grease in between the teeth at the bottom of the button and the idler, and rotate them with a little force before assembly. Doing this for about thirty seconds wears and lubricates the teeth and allows it to work a lot more smoothly. Printing it at 0.2mm is perfect, but if you are wanting something with less noise from the layer lines rubbing, you can print at 0.1mm or even on a resin printer for buttery smooth results. ** I am honoring the original license of the file even though this was re-designed from scratch. That means you can use the file to print items for sale without paying me. However, that does not mean you get to re-upload the file and claim credit for the design. Cheers.
