Description
My Prusa mini started having under and over extrusion issues lately. I found a modification (center extruder) to fix this. Before this, I had already printed the chain mod, but didn't want to give it up to be able to use the center extruder mod. That is why I designed a few parts to be able to combine both mods. The designed parts are surely not perfect, but test prints have been successful. All of my cables (except filament sensor cable that isn't installed yet) are long enough to work with this mod. You may have to print a few more chain parts for the cables. I myself use 22 chain parts for the cables that go from C2 to the electronics box, and 17 chain parts for the cables that go from C1 to the x axis. This mod does not require glue (it is optional). Parts needed: 1x m3 bolt (length shouldn't matter) 1x m3 nut (Somewhat optional) A few small cable ties Other parts listed for the other mods - C1 is printed sideways, so you don't need supports. - C2 needs a few supports. Organic worked best for me. Add the m3 nut to the inside of the x axis chain holder (C1). The chain holder is then pushed on to the extruder mod arm BEFORE the center extruder plate is screwed on. Tighten the m3 screw into the back of the chain holder to hold it in place. (You can also screw it into the plastic directly.) Sorry for the over complicated explanation… I tried my best! The other chain connector (C2) will be screwed in place with a m5 screw to the back of the center extruder arm. It can be glued in place. I didn't glue it (yet at least) to let it move more freely. The imprint “C2” should be facing upwards. REMEMBER to sand the inner edge of the chain link attached to the chain connector (C2), to prevent cable damage! UPDATE: I added a PTFE tube holder, that redirects the filament to the side of the printer rather than the back. One extra M3 screw and nut is needed for this. The PTFE tube of the filament sensor can be used. The part is put on to the center extruder arm as C1. The cables should be routed through the hole of C3.
