Description
Here we have a top mount filament spool holder for a Comgrow T300. This is a remix from https://www.printables.com/model/1057570-comgrow-t300-spool-holder I did not care for the original spool holder so I remixed this one to better meet my needs. I also added a toothed z axis rod top knob to add a 6mm timing belt. I have not attempted the belt install yet so I can't guarantee compatibility. I have a belt on order and will update when installed. No supports required. I used 100% infill for strength. Printed with Petg. You may have to perform some post processing to get the bushing to fit the rod. Mine went on but had tight spots until it reached the center and then spun freely. Needed bushing to lift spool for belt clearance. This will require a 1 inch dowel from Home Depot or Lowes, cost about 6 bucks. Being this is made from wood, every dowel will measure different. Will come in a 48 inch length so cutting is required to your specific preference. I recommend when installing the spool holder left and right mounts to use 4mm washers on the 2 outside screws as the holes are oblong to make sure they fit the outer holes properly. You will need to print 4 spool holder guides to locate the spool to your desired position, 2 to locate the spool and 2 to secure the rod to eliminate movement (see pics). IMPORTANT !! YOU WILL HAVE TO EITHER MOVE THE SPOOL OR RAISE IT UP WHEN PERFORMING A Z AXIS TILT CALIBRATION !! This solution is not perfect but I could find no other available. The toothed knob is also a remix from https://www.printables.com/model/1057465-comgrow-t300-z-axis-knob . There is a youtuber GERGOPRINT3D that provides a lot of info and upgrades on the T300 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1St82uImQqw . On his machine, there was a width difference of 5mm when he raised the z gantry to the top. On my machine I was able to fiddle with the z gantry screws and achieve a .5mm difference so I did not feel the need for the aluminum top brackets with belt drive he advocated for. Happy Printing !! Edit: Added new design spool rod stop for easier spool change. Printed using TPU-95
