Description
I was looking for a silencer and a protective grille for my K1 side fan. There is a wide range on offer here, but any grille in the airflow can increase or decrease the noise. As I didn't want to test everything, I constructed my own. My thoughts went in the direction of a guide wheel that gives the airflow a twist towards the turbine wheel. I tested this very simply with straight blades twisted by 45°. I found the result surprising. The fan now runs more quietly because the airflow makes less noise. Overall, I am satisfied with the result. It could certainly be even better. I printed the first model with clear PETG. I will print the next version with ABS or ASA. But PETG should not be a problem. Nozzle: 0.6 (0.4) Layer: 0.25 (0.2) Requires support under the shovels. For the mounting in the 4.4 mm holes, I screwed coarse thread screws 5x11 mm into the plastic. Good double-sided adhesive tape (temperature-resistant up to min. 60°) should also be used here, but not tested. Trial version v2 Out of curiosity, I have developed a second version with one more blade and where each blade has a light wing profile. During testing, I noticed a little more air noise at full load but also a greater air flow in the medium load range. As I have not taken any real measurements, this is all purely theoretical and could be wrong. If you want, you can print out v2 and test it yourself. Maybe you can find an optimum for noise damping, protection and performance.
