Description
In the rare chance you have this classic old-style of Crouse-Hinds glass globe light fixture, here is an adapter to allow a brighter bulb. For decades our building had these globes with the biggest CFL-type bulbs that would fit (approx. 150 watt equivalent). With this extension you can go at least as big as a 400 watt equivalent LED light. Shown with SATCO model S49394 bulb installed. That is a 54 watt LED. It does generate some heat, but the 3D printed adapter / extension ring was printed in PETG and seems to be holding up just fine. This building is always at outdoor ambient and not in direct sunlight. If you use these in any kind of building with significant heat buildup around the ceiling area, I recommend you test in a controlled situation, so you don't have the plastic soften and let go of the globe. Leave a comment if anybody actually finds this useful. After installing these, I thought it would have been a good idea to add an external eyelet for a safety cable. If I get time, I'll add that feature. They're beautiful globes and this saves the costly decision to add more or rip them out to replace them to get more magic lumens!
