Description
To reduce the overall height of my dust collection setup - a cyclone mounted on top of a 5-gallon pail - I needed a low-profile 90° elbow. Here it is: only 59 mm high. The inlet side is cylindrical, female style, with a 56.2 mm inner diameter. The outlet nozzle is for a 35 mm vacuum hose tip, also F style. It features a 2.4° taper, with a minimum internal diameter of 34.5 mm at the far end. I understand this may not be ideal, as many users prefer a male connection; this may be addressed in a future revision. To verify your printer’s accuracy and ensure a proper fit with your cyclone inlet nozzle, a test file is included: a ring with a 56.2 mm inner diameter. The geometry was designed to minimize flow restriction based on my understanding. I do not have access to Fusion 360’s airflow analysis tools, so the performance has not been formally validated. I recommend printing at a 45° orientation. The model includes an integrated sacrificial support for stability; a version without support is also provided. Supports are required, but they are relatively minimal. I hope you find this design useful. Note: The photo shows the initial version. The uploaded files correspond to the latest iteration with an improved shape.
