Description
A series of Dovetail Vises with several variants based off of Chris Borge's design. Includes a Short-Body and Standard-Body version and three sets of jaws: Flat, PCB, and Fractal. Bill of Materials and Assembly Instructions can be found in the PDF. If you want a Non-Metric version, check out https://www.printables.com/@Thos_42489 - he has a remix of the Ball Vise and the Dovetail Vises that may be more your speed. 31/08/2024 Update: Added Vertical Jaws and V-Block Jaw Inserts 01/02/2024 Update: Added actual “Swappable” Jaws. Use M3 Caphead Screws (8mm works) to affix the jaw inserts into the jaws. The Jaws, both movable and fixed have two holes for M3 heat-set inserts. 8mm long worked fine for me. Changed the holes in the main bodies to accept an M3x3 heat-set insert (which are admittedly a bit rarer, but I found some) for use with platforms (see below). Added “Platforms” so that the vices will fit flat on a surface without being in the ball vise, use M3x6 countersink screws to affix the Platform onto the bottom of the main body from underneath. Added a “Reduced” version of the main body (and platform) that will let you use 4 M4x60 screws instead of 2 M4x60 and 2 M4x65 to assemble the main body. (Instructions pdf is not yet updated) 02/02/2024 Update: Added a nut-base variant to the “Swappable” Jaws, in case you don't want to deal with heat-set insert. I haven't tried printing these, and frankly, I recommend using the heat-set insert variants over these because of bridging, but the option is there now.
