Description

Here is a quick, sturdy, and very budget-friendly DIY project to build a custom shoe rack using 3D printed connectors and wooden rods! The Budget Hack: Instead of buying expensive 25mm wooden dowels at the hardware store, I used standard wooden broom handles ! They are exactly 25mm in diameter and cost a fraction of the price of raw timber dowels. ###Bill of Materials (Total cost: ~25€) Thick upright rods: 25mm wooden broom handles. Thin horizontal shelves: 10mm wooden dowels (easily found at any local DIY/hardware store). Screws: Just use whatever spare wood screws you have lying around the house to secure the printed parts to the wood. Filament: ~300g of PLA (I used Amazon Basics Clear PLA). ###3D Printing Details Printer: Creality Ender 3 (Printed on my trusty 5-year-old machine!) Filament: Amazon Basics Transparent PLA Total Print Time: ~24 hours for all the connectors Material Used: ~300g total ###Design & Included Files All parts were custom-designed from scratch using Autodesk Fusion 360 . wooden_shoe_rack_big_part_V3.stl : Main structural connectors for the 25mm broom handles. wooden_shoe_rack_small_part_V2.stl : Shelf supports for the 10mm dowels. BONUS FILE for Large Printers: wooden_shoe_rack_whole_part.stl : I also designed an all-in-one piece that entirely replaces the wooden parts! My 5-year-old Ender 3 bed is too small to print it, so I haven't tested this specific file myself. If you are lucky enough to have a large-format 3D printer, you can print the whole structure in one go. Please post a "Make" and show me if you manage to print this beast!
