Description

03-28-'24 Edit added on the bottom! 04-01'-24 Edit added on the bottom! I started with printing the gridfinity box from “ Pred ” and quickly found that I actually would have more need for something with drawers. I wanted to incorporate the latch/clip system I know from my Festool systainer system and which Preds boxes also make use of, into my own design. I kept the layout format the same so the two systems, Preds gridfinity and this drawer system, are compatible and can be attached easily to each other. I remodeled the latches into shorter versions than Preds design. To make printing easier I have, where neccesary, incorperated “breakaway supports” into the models. The top part needs to be printed upside down. The rectangular pieces supporting the latch hooks will break away very easy after printing. For the latches I made small support blocks for the axle protrusions. The 4 little guides ontop of the box will need to be glued, these are to help align the stacked boxes. You can leave them if you are not going to stack multiples. Everything was test printed and with a well calibrated printer everything will print without any issues. I printed everyting with 4 walls at 0.4mm thickness with 0.25 layerheight, except for the drawer grips. I printed the grips with 10 walls at 0.12 with the slanted top part on the printbed. No supports are needed. You could use less walls but I wanted mine to be solid. The grips clamp tight onto the drawer and can be attached withou glue! The top part of the drawer box will need to be glued though, if you want the system to be portable. Because of the size of this drawer system (27x23cm), a printer with a 300x300mm printbed is recommended. I am currently working on inserts for the drawers and am improving a 3 drawer box variant, which I will upload in a separate package when it is finished. I am still designing a lid for the Pred gridfinity box with a handle on the top, so you can carry a whole stack of boxes, just like the Festool systainer system. This will be uploaded later as a separate model and will be fully compatible with Preds gridfinity boxes. This is still an ongoing design, so whenever new parts are ready I will upload them and put links to all the different models here for easy access. Questions, suggestion or requests are always welcome! 03-28-'24 Edit: I just noticed I uploaded the old style bottom drawer box with guide rails on the bottom. The guide slots on the bottom of the drawer have been removed since they didn't really serve a purpose. The proper drawer box has been uploaded as “drawer Box 87mm V2” My apoligies for the wrong file mix-up! V1 Drawers with slots have been uploaded for those who have already started printing the V1 bottom part version. 03-29-'24 Edit: Smaller size drawer box to fit a Bambulabs printbed. https://www.printables.com/model/824416-drawer-box-set-23x23cm-fitting-a-bambulabs-printbe 04-01-'24 Edit: Print settings advise: It is recommended to have the following wall printing order. This is to make printing of the overhanging 45⁰ angles of the guide rails, rail slots and bottom chamfer easier and have better wall adhesion. Orca slicer: Inner/Outer/Inner Prusa: Inner/Outer Cura: Inner/Outer 0.4 wall thickness, 0.25 layer height Alternate extra walls Infill before walls 4 Bottom, 4 Top layers Top and bottom pattern zigzag(Cura), NO monotonic line sequence!( Saves me a lot of print time with both Cura and Orca sliced files ) Called “rectilinear” in Orca, set infill direction to 0 Alternative is to reduce layer height to 0.2 and keep outer/inner wall printing order, but this will add considerable time to your prints. Speed is all depending on your specific machine, so use your own best quality speed settings. © Designs by “3D Mad Mesh” If you want to support my work, feel free to buy me a coffee :) https://buymeacoffee.com/3dmadmesh
