Description

With this base, a standard low-voltage lightbulb with E10 base can be used to light up the 75mm planet lithophanes. The length of a typical E10 bulb places the filament almost perfectly in the centre of the lithophane sphere. The shroud is optional, it can be glued onto the base to hold the socket straight. This base can be used for standing or hanging, there are channels in 8 directions for the cable to come out when used as a standing base. In addition to the printed base, you also need an E10 socket and of course an E10 lightbulb (I used a 6V, 2.4W one meant for bicycle headlights). Most simple E10 socket types should fit. If the contacts are sticking out sideways, bend them down to fit through the slots in the base. After inserting the socket into the base, bend the contacts inwards to hold the socket in place (cut them shorter if they touch in the middle). Be careful when soldering the wires, PLA melts quickly ;-). Print settings: Base: 0.15mm layer height, supports enabled (snug, 10° threshold). Shroud: 0.2mm layer height, no supports.
