Description

Equation-Driven Pots is a generative 3D design project for creating printable plant pots from mathematical equations. Instead of sculpting forms manually, the project uses radius functions to define the surface, making it possible to generate twists, petals, waves, lobes, ridges, and other sculptural forms while still keeping the result functional as a real pot. The project now includes several design workflows: cylindrical forms defined by equations such as r(z, theta) spherical forms defined by equations such as r(theta, phi) a unified textured pot designer that combines both workflows and adds relief directly onto the pot surface a multi-color pot designer that can split the object into separate printable parts for color-based 3D printing workflows This opens up a wide design space, from simple patterned vessels to more complex sculptural and textured pots with ribs, dimples, scales, waves, and mathematically driven surface effects. The main project is on GitHub: https://github.com/arkadiraf/Equation-Driven-Pots If you want to explore the full toolset, customize equations, or generate your own variations, the GitHub project is the best place to start. It includes: Python generators GUI-based pot design tools browser-based HTML designers the spherical pot designer the unified textured pot designer the multi-color pot designer the Fusion 360 MathSweep Studio reconstruction workflow One of the most useful parts of the project is that it is not limited to the models shown here. The tools let you create entirely new pot designs by changing the equations, textures, and pattern logic. That makes the repository more than a model collection. It is a design system for generating your own printable forms. To keep the GitHub repository lightweight and focused on code, tools, and previews, example 3D models are hosted here on Thingiverse. The project can also be used with AI by providing the Python scripts to a capable model or by using the included prompt workflow to generate new pot designs automatically. Equation-Driven Pots is intended both as a practical 3D-printing project and as a way to explore mathematics as a design tool.
