Description

Dear makers, The Euclid France communications officers have ordered a realistic model of the Euclid satellite that can be printed and built by anyone using common 3D printers. This work was produced by SCALAE, a small company based in Grenoble, France. Credit: ESA/Euclid/Euclid Consortium/NASA, model by SCALAE Please note: Any commercial / for-profit use of this model is prohibited. ESA's Euclid mission is designed to explore the composition and evolution of the dark Universe. The space telescope will create a great map of the large-scale structure of the Universe across space and time by observing billions of galaxies out to 10 billion light-years, across more than a third of the sky. Euclid will explore how the Universe has expanded and how structure has formed over cosmic history, revealing more about the role of gravity and the nature of dark energy and dark matter. Thanks to Euclid’s very wide field of view and high resolution, the exquisite data produced by the telescope are also highly valuable for various astrophysical studies on smaller scales, like galaxy formation and evolution, the study of milky way objects or the search for exoplanets. The Euclid Consortium (EC) comprises more than 2600 members, from more than 300 laboratories in 18 countries. In partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the EC has designed and built the instruments of the Euclid space telescope. It has also developed and currently operates the data pipeline, the system responsible for processing and organizing data from the telescope. Launched on July 1st, 2023, the telescope successfully began its cosmological survey on February 14th, 2024. AI Analysis: This is a detailed model of the Euclid space telescope, designed to simulate the instrument used for studying the universe's structure and composition. The model features a gold and white color scheme with a cylindrical structure and a central lens-like component, representing the telescope's optical system. Notable features include the precise engineering details and the base structure that supports the telescope's components.
