Description
Official sample holder of FilamentColors.xyz ! Based on the wonderful design by SubSite, this spool holder is designed to make your life easier when working with filament samples. This print-in-place spool holder is expandable to fit whatever size coil you're currently working with (or want to work with)! Locking tabs keep each of the three arms in place throughout a print while collapsing easily to remove or load filament onto the spool. The Library Edition is specific to FilamentColors.xyz -- we print hundreds and hundreds of samples, and loading and unloading filaments quickly is important. To load filament: Pick an arm, then thread one end of your filament through the hole next to the U shape that holds the coil. Fold the end of the filament so that it can't work its way out. Place the spool into the middle of the coil, then expand out the first arm by one click. Work your way around the spool, bringing each arm out one click at a time until the filament coil is snug. The arms may not end up extended at the same amount when you're done -- that's perfectly fine! At the weights that this coil is designed to support (100g max), the hole being off-center won't hurt anything and it should work just fine. The Library Edition is based on the modified Expandable Spool Holder by Jordon of Mad Monkey , which in turn is based on the original version by SubSite . Print instructions Tested with PLA -- no supports are needed beyond the ones that are included in the print by default. 0.2mm layers required.
