Description
This is a hot shoe cover with a larger footprint to help prevent moisture/dust/debris ingress into the Sony multi-interface shoe area. Sony actually made enlarged hot shoe covers for their pro sports shooters for the Olympics, but decline to make them a commercially available product. I have shot in the rain with just a normal hot shoe cover that ships with the cameras and gotten flaky behavior because the communication/signal pins inside the hot shoe area have gotten damp. Compared to a traditional hotshoe cover, this cover is expanded to provide some coverage of the seams from the stop and sides. Obviously this is not an actual seal so I do not make any claims about dust/moisture resistance, Additionally, printing them out of a colored filament instead of the traditional black or dark grey makes them easier to find when they're at the bottom of a bag or dropped on the floor. I have tested these to fit on the Sony A9 (original), the A7RIII, and the A7III. I have not tried them on any other cameras so I do not know if they will fit.
