Description

Skew Dice™ Disclaimer: The commercial version of the Skew Dice™ was designed by Robert Fathauer and Henry Segerman . Indeed, Skew Dice™ is a trademark of their company: The Dice Lab . Please, go buy some of their amazing products! These dice are asymmetric trigonal trapezohedrons , the least symmetric 6-sided face-transitive polyhedrons (they only have rotational 120º-symmetry). The face-transitivity property ensures that they are “fair by symmetry” in the sense of: P. Diaconis & J. B. Keller, 1989 - “ Fair Dice ” The American Mathematical Monthly, Vol. 96, No. 4. In this version the OpenSCAD module from Carlos Luna is used https://www.printables.com/model/616349-skew-dice which is really great to create skew dice with given parameters. I just improved the usability by: Moving and rotating the models to lay them down to the XY-plane. => No need for support and no need for manual rotating and moving 3 dimensional. (I had to dig deep in my brain to find the equations I learned at school decades ago :-)) After two times of Spaghetti printout I felt this would be useful. Adding some lines of code for customizer => This makes it much easier to test what parameters you want to use for your dice (No need to change any line of code to do this) Adding option for pips in different color by using holes as pips which have the diameter of the filament. (After print these holes can be filled manually by glueing short parts of other filaments into the holes. This allows 2 color dice with standard printer). The following parameters can be adjusted by customizer: Size of the dice in millimeter (without stretching) Phase shift of the dice (0..120): Phase = 60 results in normal dice Phase = 30 recommended value for skew dice Stretch factor for one diagonal axis of the dice separately (changes size in one direction) Stretch = 1 normal, no stretch Stretch > 1 one diagonal axis becomes longer Stretch < 1 the dice will be flatter Stretch = 0 Special rule: 2 Corners will be rectangular Rounding percentage for edges Rounding = 0 sharp edges Depth of holes for pips to be filled by cut parts of other filament to build a nice 2 color dice Depthpips = 0 standard halfsphere pips (for simple single color version) Diameter of holes for pips for cut filament (for filling pip holes if depthpips >0) Diapips = diameter of filament + e.g. 0.15mm (additionally holes may need to be cleaned up by manual drill afterwards) Laydown model on print bed Laydown = yes allows simple printing on print bed without support Laydown = no may result in nicer look of the print Addmirror dice Addmirror = yes adds another dice as mirror part of the first one to get a pair of dice You have never customized a thing? Don't worry, I optimized this thing for easy customization. Just follow the instructions in the last picture, install OpenSCAD (only 50MB) and customize it with a few clicks there.
