Description
This is a simple filament rack I designed to go on the side of any cage or 3d printer using 20 series aluminum extrusion. There are tons out there but I was low on PETG filament and needed to print with what I had. Most use over 100g of filament. This design uses less than 35g per side. The design uses 3/4" or 19mm Aluminum Balusters you can pick up at any Home Depot. M4 bolts and t-nuts to mount to the rails and Then slide the tubes through. You can use some O-rings over the ends of the tubes to prevent them from coming out, but once you have weight on them they do not move. I printed my first set using PETG and they are great, very solid. The second set I used PLA+ and they seem just as solid, time will tell if they distort. One note, the filament spool edge does protrude in a little bit inside the profile. I did this to reduce the amount hanging out.
