Description
Shameless Remix of Socrates awesome tie cutter design, original tie lengths came out a bit long for my FT jig, so I remixed them to be slightly shorter, measuring from the FT paper template. The ties are incrementally added into the cutter from the points (facing) end of the turnout. The first 2 short ties can be cut from a single copperhead tie, the others need a full length. I also recommend leaving the switch rod / throw tie full length (don't trim), to leave the option for attaching throw mechanism to either side, until you do final installation on the layout. Leave the 'X' slot empty for cutting to length (9 ties total). Once cut and the first gaps are filed in with a triangle file, move the end tie to the X slot, and file the 3rd gap using the upper horizontal (not angled) file slot. Hats off to Socrates for his awesome original design that totally simplifies the tie cutting and gapping effort.
