Description

This device will help students grasp objects for functional use, such as attaching a marker instead of gripping it by hand. I was working hard to make the base of the project large enough for students who struggle with grasp and fine motor skills. I had to visualize the different areas and attachments for the Velcro and elastic. I ran into problems making everything proportionate because I was worried that the two holes did not have enough space between them. After playing around with the measurements, I made it work. The whole design was roughly 6 inches long and 2 inches in diameter, with the rings being about 1 inch in diameter to attach to the base. The top rings were also 1 inch, but they were cut in half to make crescent shapes (both the rings and crescents were .25 inches wide too). The holes for the elastic went through the entire figure and were about .25 inches in diameter.
