Description

This is a remix of a remix. justbennett's Altitude Control (Z bearing and turner) has a great idea for altitude adjustments for Maff's Hadley Telescope. However, I noticed it didn't contain some of the minor flourishes for mounting and the beveling for the screws. I wanted to keep that look and so I remixed it. The wheel turner is the same except for an additional 1mm offset to account for the beveling of the main assembly. Unfortunately this wheel is necessary for the double helix gears to mesh properly. Of course, with this remix you'll need longer screws. #10-24, 1.5" machine screws are recommended or an additional ¾" is needed to whatever you had before. How you affix the wheel is up to you. I used a #10-24 rivet nut embedded into my rocker box and a 2" #10-24 machine screw. In addition, I used one of the slotted knobs from the Hadley files to stabilize the altitude. It's a little clumsy right now, so feel free to make a suggestion on how to tighten and loosen reliably. I am entertaining using a nyloc nut (instead of the rivet nut) on the inside of the rocker box so I can tighten and loosen better. Print using the settings that you had for your other parts. Recommend more infill (maybe 50%+?) for the wheel since it's doing the work.
