Description
This drawer enables you mount a Prusa MK3S LCD inside a double Gen2 Modular Lack Enclosure drawer case. I wasn't sure it would fit it inside, but it does, barely! This can be done with no mods to the printer itself, only ditching the stock printed LCD mounts. First off, you need to solve the cabling issue. In my case, since I use and want to keep a concrete paver underneath the printer inside the enclosure, I designed and printed a cable channel and then used it to pour my own reinforced concrete slab. It was then a matter of drilling/cutting holes in the Lack table to pass the cables into the drawer rail/case/drawer. When the cable run is dealt with, mount the screen in the drawer. The main problem is the SD card. It's too long to clear the case, so my solution was this: A short microSD adapter from Adafruit. I drilled a very small hole in the handle and passed a fine sewing thread in to make pulling the adapter out easier. In my case I have a RPi zero 2W running WiFi so I'll never need to take the card out anyway. There are two very short mounting holes at the top of the drawer that align with the holes in the PCB. You can use short M3x4mm button head screws. To make the bottom secure use the tabs and stick them in with double-sided tape. The top of the PCB will get blocked by the drawer catches on the rail above so you need to shave them off or print double rails without those tabs. The PCB sticks out of the bottom of the drawer slightly but the thickness of the case prevents any interference with a drawer underneath. The cut on the back of the drawer is so you can pass the cables in when inserting the drawer in the case.
