Description

This is a set of parts I made to re-enforce the 3M adhesive used to mount Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro (H706A). Light Mount : A small frame that goes around the outside of a light that can be screwed to the mounting surface to suppliment the adhesive on lights that may be subjected to extra force. Junction Mount : A mount for the junctions between strands of lights. Splice Mount : A mount to support the weight of the large splice connections. Wire Support : I used these to support spans of the extension wires. Also, by mounting these slightly our of line from the lights, I used them to hide excess slack in wires in areas where I mounted the lights less then the max distance apart. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Light Placement Template : Govee recommends mounting the lights 3cm to 8 cm from the house. I had to place mine a bit further out since I wanted light my walkways. As such, I made a few templates for these distances, 5cm, 7.5cm, and 10cm. You can use these to ensure the lights are a uniform distance from the house. I suggest putting up a section of lights with painter's tape to see what you prefer before commiting. Multiples of the models are available and with the following suffixes: xxxx_NoHoles : I removed the screw holes so you can add your own to suit the screws you are using. This is very easy in Prusa Slicer or TinkerCAD. xxxx_Brim : I had issues with some of the models warping, so rather than using a full brim in the slicer, I added brims to the end of the model. xxxx_OneMP : One mounting pad instead of two. xxxx_YYmm : These wire supports are YY millimeters long. I printed all pieces at 0.2mm layer height without supports, except the Light Placement templates which needed a small amount of supports. I attached my lights to a vinyl soffit and used #8 x 3/8in gutter screws for the mounts. On the smaller wire supports, I found one screw sufficient. On some of the longer wire supports, I found one screw on each side to be sufficient instead of all four. I left the tolerances a little loose on the wire supports to allow the wire to slide when they expand and contract due to temperature. The thought being if the wire was fully constrained, the force of expansion and contraction would be transferred to the lights. * * I suggest the parts be printed in ASA, ABS, PETG, or other higher temp materials as PLA may get soft in the summer heat. Edit 11/12/2023 : Added 2 versions of narrower Light Mounts with the screw holes next to the wire for those mounting lights in tight spaces. One has additional wire support and the other does not. Edit 11/18/2023 : In my attempt to accommodate some requests, I rushed to publish the V2 light mounts. While none of the issues I found would effect their functionality, I am replacing the V2 set with V3. The V3 light mounts have slightly thicker walls and wrap more tightly around the lights. With these tighter tolerances, you should print a single unit to test the fit and scale as needed. Edit 11/18/2023 : To accommodate a request, I am adding LightMountv3_Decor. This mount encloses the light in a half sphere. It is by far the most robust mount. Edit 12/11/2023 : To accommodate a request, I am adding LightMountv3_Decor_NoHoles. This mount encloses the light in a half sphere without screw holes.
