Description
My goal was to design a better organized and more spacious case for a more complete Chapman screwdriver set than any offered by the OEM. In its current form, this Gridfinity compliant case can accommodate ALL of Chapman's screwdriver bits except the highly specialized (and rarely used) Japanese JIS1 and JIS2 crosspoint bits, the Bristol 6 flute spline bits and the Reed & Prince/Frearson bit. Both the JIS crosspoint and Reed & Prince bits are very similar to Philips bits. However if need be, the 1x3 accessory bin could easily be replaced with a 1x1-8 bit storage bin to accommodate these exotic bits along with a 1x2 accessory bin. Note that the lid for the Phillips+Robertson bits bin is slightly deeper than the others because the Phillips bits are slightly longer than the other types. I chose to use the popular color code of red for SAE hex bits bin and blue for Metric hex bits bin. The colors I chose for all the other bins are merely personal preference. I designed a close fitting cap for the 1x3 accessory bin but a regular 1x3 shallow cap would also have worked. You will need at least 80 6x2mm neodymium magnets to fix the lids/caps to the box lid and 6 M3x30 socket head cap screws for the hinges and the latches. I created custom sized labels for the bit bins in the Brother P-Touch application and printed them with a PTE-500 Brother label printer using 6mm tape. I included all the lbx files for those. If you have a Brother labeler equipped with a USB or Bluetooth interface, you can open those labels in P-Touch and print them. All the bit types and sizes are designated by a Chapman specific code number and/or bit size. Also included is a Chapman color logo sized and pre-placed on a 1:1 scale template for printing on Avery 22822 glossy clear 2" x 3" rectangular label sheets.
