Description

Updates 2023-12-01 - Added single corner and half grid bases for even more minimal printing. 2023-09-29 - Fixed the 2x2x7u & 8u bins. There was some gaping on the bottom of the label. 2023-06-09 - Fixed the 1x3x6u, 7u, and 8u bins. The stabilizer “X” were done wrong. Replaced the 1x5x7u model to the correct one. 2023-02-04 - Updated to the Gridfinity v5 spec which changes the bin height slightly. I'm leaving the v4 STLs available as a zip file. 2023-01-11 - Added 1x5, 2x5, 3x5, 4x5, and 5x5 bins for all bin heights as well as bases. 2023-01-02 - Added 2u and 8u bins by request. Also see my other Gridfinity Bins: Vase Mode Bins (no label flaps) Divided Vase Mode Bins with Labels Divided Vase Bins (no label flaps) Description These minimal filament bins will give you plenty of organizing space for very little filament. A 1x1 grid, 6u bin will use just 10.6g of filament, while a 4x4 is just 120g. 90 vase mode bin models Sizes from 1x1 up to 5x5 Heights from 3u up to 8u (6u is standard) 15 matching bases These bins are based on the excellent design by Francesco Iannone . I've made a couple of significant enhancements to the design. The bases now have magnets holes The bases have been reoriented to print top-down which makes the top and magnet holes very clean X pattern structural supports have been added to the vase mode bins which significantly increase the rigidity and strength of the bin walls. This was inspired by a design by braden.eliason . Basics Print the bins in 2 parts: base and the top (bin). Glue the pieces together for a very simple, bin. Recommended slicer settings Bins Vase mode Bottom layers: 4 .4mm nozzle Wall thickness: .8mm Layer height: .2mm below the label flap .12mm for the label flap and upper lip .6mm nozzle Wall thickness: 1.2mm Layer height: .28mm below the label flap .2mm for the label flap and upper lip Base Print in the top-down orientation found in the STL file. This will give you a very clean top and clean magnet holes. ≤15% infill TIPS Faster Bases: Adrian-CrimsonAzure pointed out that for larger bins, you can get away with printing 1x1 bases and then glue them to just the corners of your larger bins. For a 4x4 this means printing just 4 1x1 bases rather than 16 base grid. If you're short on filament or time, this is a great option. Top Stability: To make the label flap and bin lip more stable, try printing the top of the model (from where the label lip starts to the top) at a shorter layer height than the rest of the model. I go from .2 mm to .12 mm with a .4 mm nozzle. Thanks to kevman for this suggestion. PrusaSlicer/SuperSlicer - Use the height range modifier to make this adjustment.
