Description

Inspired from having to travel with my soldering iron, I decided I needed to make my stuff more portable. I printed most of these in 0.28mm layers (with exception to the fume extractor box. All materials fit in a 5x4x6u box (I used the one from Pred). The major hurdle for this was building a mini fume extractor that would fit in a 2x2 but maximize airflow. I found that an 80x80x25 would leave enough for a filter in a 6u but would be insanely tight. Instead of carrying around a 12v wall wart or some other supply, I opted for a slim USB-C trigger board that can do Power Delivery at 12v. Details here. Components and files for this located here: Components used in this kit: 0.08in thick solder wick Brass solder tip cleaner SRA #312 Soldering Flux Pen No-Clean 10ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008OC0E5M Pinecil V2: https://pine64.com/product/pinecil-smart-mini-portable-soldering-iron/ Also using Pinecil power supply and USB-C cable For solder holder: 608 bearing, M3 Nut and Bolt. Solder tip tinner: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NS4J6BY Omnifixo: https://omnifixo.com/ ===EDIT 4-30-2026=== I added the tip tinner lid. Unfortunately the original lid was too wide for a single gridfinity box so I had to design a separate lid. I don't really like this design, so I highly encourage a separate solution. I ended up having to add a layer of capton tape around the perimeter to make it a snug fit.
