Description
This is an improved version of the original heliochronometer sundial base design. It allows one to mount the sundial to a head leveling base or tripod ball to greatly simplify leveling. It also has integrated bubble levels and a magnetic compass to make true north adjustments without any additional hardware. Two designs are available: Base with 2x mini square levels, Base with 1x mini circular level. The 1st design makes use of (qty 2) 10x10x29mm Mini Square Spirit Levels and (qty 1) 20x20x5mm Mini Oil filled Compass. The 2nd design makes use of (qty 1) 18x9mm Mini Circular Bullseye Spirit Level and (qty 1) 20x20x5mm Mini Oil filled Compass. The levels and compass can be purchased through Amazon, or similar site. Northern Hemisphere (NH) & Southern Hemisphere (SH) versions are available. For maximum alignment accuracy, make sure to compensate for any magnetic north deviations from true north in your area. The sundial requires to be aligned to true north for accurate time readings. Suggested material for printing is ASA or ABS. You will need to thread the base with a ¼"-20 UNC tap to screw in a standard tripod ball or leveling head bolt.
