Description
an experimental anti-balistic-missile from the 1960s, closely related to the Sprint missile. never in service. Heres an obscure one for ya, this is HIBEX, an INCREDIBLY fast missile used to intercept incoming warheads from soviet ballistic missiles at the last minute. For this reason it had to be faster than fast. It could withstand accelerations of 400G. With this acceleration it could go from 0 to mach 10 in a less than one second (whether it actually did this or not, I do not know) The other model is an experimental modification of HIBEX called upstage. there is really not much info out there on either of these, so all of my dimensions mainly came from the sites I linked below or scaling museum photos More information https://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/app4/hibex.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprint_(missile)#Design_predecessors photo: By White Sands Missile Range Museum - HIBEX (archived here) on http://www.wsmr-history.org/ (archived here), Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=48454
