Description
This is a beta, early, last minute modification for Halloween 2023 - printing successfully will require you read the advice below - but I wanted to get this up for you last minute 2023 pumpkin printers. I love Daniel Josvai's vase mode design - Ive printed 6 now at 3 scales over the last few days, but the lack of light transmission through the lid is a small issue. To solve it, I remixed the lid, removing the bottom surface and then solidifying the remainder to 1.2mm 1.2mm thickness was required as my tests at 0.8mm left the lid a little too thin in places, but 1.2mm seems to get the job done. There are 4 versions of the lid, 50%, 100%, 150% and 200% size. Ive printed 50,100 and 150 so far with the settings below. the 200% size is untested. To print Be aware Im rushing these up for halloween 2023 - the thickening process has meant the bottom is not level, so sink your model a layer or two before slicing, for an even bottom layer. Print at 0.6mm line width and 0.2 layer height for success - but feel free to experiment - a 0.8 line width ‘may’ work on this model - I havent tried it. Support is essential. For support I recommend lines, with no top, bottom or side supports, just the lines - so if you have to, you can leave the support in place and light will still transfer through the lid. I used 10% support density and 55% overhang. I recommend you test your support settings on the 50% version which will only take 15 mins to print.
