Description
I wasn't satisfied with the default Honeycomb Storage Wall inserts; they're press-fits, so the tolerances need to match perfectly. This is a problem when printing with larger nozzles/extrusion widths (which I do frequently for speed) or when your bowden-style printer blows up or shrinks edges, often leading to nothing fitting into the wall. So I made these threaded inserts that snap into place and are easily removed again. They hold on their own but can be fixed very tightly by screwing something into them, e.g. one of the screws or threaded rods shipped with this design or one of the Screwiverse Attachments . I made this with my fork of Python SDF , the code is here and can be customized if needed. The janky edges in the STL are an artifact of Python SDF and can be reduced by using a finer grid. But that blows of the file size, so I chose to keep the resolution quite low. 👀 Check the Screwiverse Remixes for attachments designed for these inserts. 💡 You can make any Honeycomb Storage Wall accessory Screwiverse-compatible with these adapters 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media What's in the box? alternative threaded inserts/joiners that are easy to remove and move around. They have a little triangle mark indicating where the top is. Attachments (like the tentacle hooks) then align with this orientation when screwed in. threaded rods nuts and endstops screws for fixing Parameters The Thread is just a circle that's offset from the center and then extruded while rotating: 15mm diameter 4mm pitch 10mm length 0.5mm center offset in OpenScad , something like linear_extrude(10,twist=-10/(4/360))translate([0.5,0,0])circle(d=14); should get you going 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media Print Settings Threaded Inserts: 100% infill or ∞ perimeters, up to 0.7mm extrusion width and 0.4mm layer height is OK. Default profiles should all work. Threaded Rods: I recommend using vase mode with min. 1mm extrusion width (or at least 100% infill for normal mode) for the threaded rods, otherwise they snap easily. Changelog 11.05.2023: improved tolerances of threaded insert, fits easier now and grips better 15.05.2023: add stopnut and threaded rods with rim 19.05.2023: increased thread diameter to 15mm, 3mm pitch as the other rods snapped to easily. The locking mechanism for the inserts was also greatly improved. Let me know if you're still interested in the 10mm-diameter threaded rod versions. 19.05.2023: add tentacle hook 21.05.2023: add rectangular tentacle hooks of different dimensions 23.05.2023: add wall bracket for threaded insert and dummy EU power socket moved Tentacle Hooks , Powerstrips Brackets and Dummy Power Socket into own designs added more threaded insert joiners 27.02.2024: Add SolveSpace sketch for thread dimensions 20.03.2024: Add SolveSpace model of 10mm threaded rod
