Description
John Logie Baird’s pioneering design for television utilised a mechanical Nipkow disk and analogue electronics to encode and decode video signals. This demonstrator highlights a key effect of the spinning Nipkow disk: when rotating at a sufficiently high frequency, the disk appears transparent, allowing the viewer to see the image of John Logie Baird behind it. This principle was essential in enabling early mechanical television to function. When printing Front Shield and Image, swap between filament colours to increase contrast. Currently the image is of John Logie Baird, but feel free to update it to whatever!
