Description

I made myself a small writing desk and wanted a lamp on it. I had a couple I 3cd printed but was too big for the desk top and took up space. Si I designed a new one. The lamp screws to the back of my desk. It isnt too tall and uses 2 LED (USB powered) strips. This leaves the desk top with more space There are two types of uprights, one where the gantry is part of the upright and one where the gantry is printed separate and is a good tight fit. The lamp "shade" is 300mm wide. I have included plenty of pics to show it at different angles. I used 2 x 4mm cross head bolts to fit the shade to the gantry and 4 x cross head screws to fix the lamp to the back of the desk. I used super glue to glue the gantry to the upright as I dont want it to swivel. The upright and gantry are hollow ro fit a USB cable up through to the led strips. I wired them with wires joining the strips on one end to the other and then the USB cable goes under the LED strips and soldered on around the centre to light the LED's. I had 2 x print failures when doing the upright as I set it with the screw bracket to the bed side and had to turn it over so the flat bracket was facing upwards. I used tree supports (generic settings) and the 3rd print was perfect. The gantry has tree supports as the top of the bracket is a little larger than the tube part. The "shade" was printed with tree supports with the curve downwards so the LED slot was facing upwards. These were printed on a BambuLab P1P with generic settings but the strength up to 35% I used Tinkercad to design it.
