Description
Recommended Print Settings Material: ABS or ASA is highly recommended. The original creator (b1gdumb) noted that the PLA will warp due to the high heat inside a car cabin, causing the mirror to fail again after a few months. Durability: Use a high infill or extra walls since this is a mechanical latching clip. Installation Steps (from the Reddit thread) Remove Lens: Use a flathead screwdriver or pry tool to pop out the clear light lens. Pry on the side closest to the rear of the car (there are two small indents there). Unscrew: Remove the two Phillips head screws revealed under the lens. Remove Unit: Close the mirror and pry on the edges of the unit (again, prying from the side closest to you/the back of the car) to pop it out of the roof. Disconnect: Unplug the power cable for the vanity lights. Replace Part: Flip the unit over, unscrew the two screws holding the latch mechanism, and swap the broken plastic piece with your 3D-printed one. Note: Make sure to clear out any broken shards of the old plastic from the housing before sliding the new part in, or it may jam.
