Description
This is a remix of Longer Ray5 10W fine height adjuster remix for 1/4-20 hardware by vincent228. On the original, it appeared that mounting the top bracket required two holes and adding short M3 bolts/nuts to the laser's mounting plate. The original instructions weren't clear on whether these needed to be drilled or if their laser engravers already had the holes. In my case, there weren't any factory drilled holes and I didn't want to drill into my engraver. Because of this, I modified the top bracket to pressure fit over the top of the bracket. With this new top mount, it stops about 1/4in shy of the very top. This is due to the bottom bracket touching the top bracket at full height fine-tuning. That said, I don't see how the original design would've given me full z-height adjustment either. This really makes me wonder if Longer made different laser mounting brackets. If your laser as height extension accessories like mine, that last 1/4in of adjustment is a non-issue. Additionally, I ran into problems finding the adjustment bolt in the correct length (M6 60mm bolt or a 1/4-20 2.5in bolt). My hardware store had a large selection of carriage bolts so I adapted the lower bracket to fit a 1/4-20 2.5in carriage bolt perfectly.
