Description
Started out making something more spherical in nature… After a number of test prints & failures, I figured most folk didn't have setup or the patience to pull that one off. Decided to just see what would happen with poor quality meshing in FreeCAD, and this is what came out. Before you ask, yep, it's asymmetrical--that's how FreeCAD mesher do! It doesn't bother my OCD at all :) I printed in vase mode with 0.4mm nozzle, 0.8mm line width, 0.3mm layer height going very slow (30mm/s base speed--I went with less patience) with no cooling. Printing it isn't a slam dunk with the overhangs in PETG (no complaining)… Luckily, I happened by where the top section was starting to sag a bit and give it a little fan (35%). My next print will kick the fan on at layer 422. I suspect you could get better clarity if you're willing to play some more tricks and wait forever… This time I printed the PETG straight from the dryer. It just slides in place. There's nothing to lock it down (friction fit or threads). As drawn, it holds a 12 oz. carton of Dubble Bubble, 4 benchies, a Dora, some calibration cubes, a fidget or two and some leftover knife sharpener parts… Thanks to Carl Belcher (again) for a great model!
