UPDATE: There is now an even BETTER version that uses a twist-lock mechanism so you don't have to bother with the magnets: https://makerworld.com/en/models/487870 UPDATE: These files have been superseded by V2!! See update notes below. Get V2 here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/199062 Hey folks, I wanted to design a fume extraction ventilation system for 3D printers that could take advantage of some affordable and widely available components, be extremely flexible and work for whatever your printing setup looks like, and help keep those nasty resin fumes outside. The fittings have a quick disconnect feature that uses 10x2mm neodymium magnets, and couples the hose firmly into position at any point you want to extract fumes from. Just install an outlet fitting anywhere you want to vent; directly on your printers enclosure, above your workspace in a flow hood, a cabinet or large enclosure you keep all your printers in etc. This lets you quickly move the fume extractor to wherever you need it, and there's an included outlet cover with a handle that you can use to block off the outlets when the hose isn't connected. You can print the entire thing without supports! I used Esun PLA+ and a 0.3mm layer height Here's a video on the system What you'll need | Affiliate Links <3 4" Inline Fan - https://geni.us/E31MO 4" Vent Hose - https://geni.us/DSqwco Plank of wood that fits your window or an AC Window Kit https://geni.us/AEv78e 10x2mm Neodymium Magnets - https://geni.us/i8uAI69 M3 Bolts (I used a mix of M3x8 and M3x12) - https://geni.us/TVsnB 80mm Hole Saw (with teeth, not the diamond type) - https://geni.us/xPTj Insect screen mesh - https://geni.us/17df2 Hose clamps - https://geni.us/hRDvaG Tip: Depending where you are it may be significantly cheaper to source the insect screen mesh and hose clamps locally. For most of the other parts I found better deals on ebay so check there as well, but thank you for using my affiliate links. Recommended tools Power Drill Staple Gun Hand saw Update 25.09.22 I've added variations on the parts for those of you who wish to embed the magnets in place during printing rather than glue them in. They're provided in both 0.2 and 0.3mm layer height variants so just download the ones for your preferred layer height. If printing the original files I recommend using super glue for the magnets. That's what I did and so far they're still going strong, and none have popped out. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/onceinasixside Update 05/03/2024 WE'VE GONE PARAMETRIC BABY!! That's right, you can now download these files in glorious F3D format. I've remodeled them from scratch using the parametric tools in Fusion 360, and now you can modify til your hearts content and customize these models to your EXACTING DEMANDS. DOWNLOAD PARAMETRIC V2 FILES ON MAKERWORLD: https://makerworld.com/en/models/199062 Notable highlights of the update include: Easily configure the models for embedded magnets that fit your print settings and preferences perfectly Quickly adjust the tolerances to suit your printer and magnets There's now a fast tolerance test print to dial in your tolerances All the parameters are commented, and there's a video that shows off everything that's been changed and what you can do now with the power of the parameters - so go watch that right now right here. The included STLs here come with a 0.3mm tolerance built in for the magnets, so I would recommend printing the tolerance test part first and checking the fit with your 10x2mm magnets, and then adjust the tolerance parameters accordingly.
