Description

Recently completed a set of Mandalorian armor for Halloween. A number of the models I found needed some modifications in order to work with my outfit. I will link to original models for all the parts I made, and am only uploading the items I edited. Please refer to the original models for everything else. More information on this project as a whole can be found at The Mandalorian Way – hivemonkey dot com (writeup is still in progress, I have a day job :) ) Helmet - the original model is here . The only edit I made was adding a spot for an 8mm 3w LED on the left earpiece. Drilled a hole through the side of the helmet to run the wires for power to the inside of the helmet. Pauldrons - no changes were made. Breastplate - The right side of the breastplate had cutouts added for an LED display. Right Bracer - Various gubbins were added to the model to allow for a large cutout at the back, to accept a 2.4" TFT screen with room for a microcontroller (I used an ESP32-S2) underneath. I lasercut a small rectangle of 2mm acrylic as a cover for the screen and glued it into the cutout, level with the top of the bracer. Left Bracer - A deeper cutout was placed inside, behind the Whistling Birds launcher, to accept an ItsyBitsy microcontroller, and 12 LEDs in a grid housing - I used segments of an Adafruit NeoPixel strip. Individual lengths of 1.5mm end-glow fiber optic were then run, one from each NeoPixel, out the front of the launcher assembly. Each one got a tiny rocket slid over it, CA glued into the assembly, and the optical fiber trimmed to the end of the rocket. Rifle Cartridge - I was originally intending to cast this out of aluminum, so merged all the parts of the original cartridge model into a single piece. Never got to the casting so just painted some of these up instead.
