Description

This is an outdoor home for mason bees. The holes are 6-8 mm and at least 5 inches deep depending on the floor. The floors are designed to stack and not take in water (they overlap). The holes can be cleaned out every year as each layer can be taken apart. When you add a 1/4 x 4 inch eye bolt through the house, add a rubber washer to the top to prevent water penetration. Make sure the floors line up well so there are no sharp edges on the inside. Will they nest in a plastic home? Maybe. Will there be a heating issue since it is plastic and not wood? Maybe, depending on the color you use. Will it take in water from wind and rain if you hang it? Will the bees chew on it? Will birds destroy it getting to the bees? Maybe... Try it out and let me know what you think. If you get some, just make sure you know how to harvest them and clean out the house every year.
