Description
I've had a problem finding a proper rubber band for the base of the famous Open Ball vise. This is my temporary (or not-so-temporary) solution - to make my own. The result and its sturdiness may vary depending on the silicone you use, but it is easy to make a new one. BOM : Kinda any silicone which can hold its form to 6x M3 screws (any length from 12mm to 20mm will do) 6x M3 nuts Instructions : Assemble the mold with the hardware. Apply a soapy water to it generously to serve as a release agent. Apply an excessive amount of silicone into the groove. (The leftovers will be squeezed out later). Press in either the mockup ball or the real ball of the vice. It should be covered in a soapy water or another release agent as well.
