Description

This is a remixed version of the awesome model by Keenan with a few optimizations and some extra parts/accessories. Enhancements I had a hard time hammering all the parts together, in fact most of the inserts didn't fit at all when printed in PLA on my machine. Compensating the expansion in the slicer didn't work very well. I ended up shrinking the volume of all insert models (including the eye) by 0.15 mm, meaning that the model gets smaller but all openings also get a little wider. The clips holding the larger inserts in the chameleon model have also been slimmed down a little for better flexibility, as many clips previously broke when pushing the inserts in. The stem, hooks and fasteners remain unchanged. Feel free to mix and match with the parts from the original model. Additions I also designed a mounting board to prevent the keys hanging on the hooks from rubbing against the wall. The board measures 20x20 cm, features a pattern of holes, and has a surface texture imitating chameleon skin (just like the body model). There are two “predrilled” holes in the board for securing the reinforced wall mount (with a back wall appx. 1 mm thicker) using two small self-tapping screws (about 5 mm or 6 mm). You can also print two of the extra spacer pins and plug them into the board's holes behind the chameleon (see photo) to keep it at the proper distance. Recommendations The wall mount should be printed with the clips lying flat to prevent layer delamination when attaching or (very very carefully) detaching the stem. If you’ve already printed the original model , you may also use the board by adding small washer plates (approximately 1 mm thick) between the board and the original wall mount. Printing Hints Spacers, fasteners (two required), hooks (five required) and wall mount should be printed at 100% infill, i.e. by setting a large number for the wall line count. The chameleon and its inserts print well with 16% infill. The board prints well with 16% infill (gyroid pattern) and 2 wall lines. PLA works great! The material used for the stem, board, and wall mount in the photos is Creality CR PLA wood filament.
